WATER TEST RESULTS
September 7, 8 & 9, 2007
Friday afternoon Sandee Lovett and Lynda Dunn judged the non-Newfs in the water. Thanks to stewards who were willing to arrive early and work with spotty showers, non-Newfs were judged in all three levels of NCA water exercises (6 WD, 2 WRD, 2 WRDX). The pirates seemed quite intrigued by what the various dogs were able to accomplish. At the end of the day, the following dogs qualified for titles.
Water Dog: Flaps Down Long (Flaps), a Labrador Retriever, with Danielle Long LCA Ch Muerfy Von Alpensee (Muerfy), a Leonberger, with Lori Peznowski
Water Rescue Dog: Flaps Down Long, WD (Flaps) with Danielle Long
Saturday morning and pleasant temperatures, everyone gathered by the beach to watch 6 dogs attempt to earn WRDX titles, the highest of the three levels of water work. Judges John Jackman and Barbara Jenness instructed the stewards, answered questions, crossed their fingers and were able to award the title. Water Rescue Dog Excellent: Glenauldyns Emerald Dragon (Oz), CD, RN, DD, WRD with Cindi Kursner
After the excitement of the WRDX test, the group settled down and enjoyed a potluck lunch. Then judges Barbara Jenness and Sharon Gilbert met the junior entrants without obedience titles for the Basic Control exercises. Finally, it was time to return to the beach to see the 12 enthusiastic junior dogs try to earn their titles. The following dogs completed the work for their Water Dog titles. Ch Moonfleet’s Touch of Magic, RN (Ernie) with Mary Trauernicht Ch Nimiami Bust My Buttons, DD (Bee) with Dawn Staffen Ch Butlers Farm Hey There, CD, RN (Georgie Girl) with Denita Jackman Ebb Tides Gaelea, CDX, WD (Angelika) with Karen Schlipf [requalify]
The breakfast crew was up before the sun on Sunday to get the group started with pancakes and sausage. Judges Barb Jenness and Sharon Gilbert met with stewards and exhibitors and were ready to judge 13 dogs that wanted to make their owners proud and earn senior titles. After three days of activities, the pirates could be heard chanting “Yo, Ho, Ho” each time a dog passed an exercise. With a box-lunch break, the day passed with exciting performances and the following dogs earned their Water Rescue Dog titles. Emmabay Virgil’s for Virginia, CD, WD, DD (Virgie) with Tamzin Rosenwasser Ch Pouch Cove’s Cambriol, CD, WD, TDD, CGC, TDJ (Cambri) with Cathy Hartke Blackwatch’s Sweetness, WD (Payton) with Patty Strickland
