In Memoriam
In Honor of Sandee and Mike Lovett
Sandee Lovett was an integral part of Great Lakes Newfoundland
Club. If you knew Sandee, you realized that she was a talented crafts
person and seamstress.
One of the many projects Sandee had going, was the makings of a
quilt, made out of T-Shirts. These shirts represented the GLNC, the NCA,
Newf Rescue and other regional clubs. While going through their things,
when the Lovett’s home was being readied to welcome a new family, the
makings for this quilt was found.
I was asked to complete this project for Sandee and we set the 50 th
Anniversary of the GLNC water test as our goal. Please realize that this
was Sandee’s project and I simply took what I thought her vision was and
tried to put it together as I thought Sandee might have done.
If you look at the T-Shirt images, you will realize that they represent
different things that the GLNC Club has done over the years. From water
tests, the journey into Newfoundland, Newf Rescue and the NCA, they are
all activities that the GLNC has participated in and more than likely, Mike
and Sandee Lovett as well.
I would also like to ask that you view this quilt with a bit of tolerance,
as I am not a skilled seamstress. I must add that I had a lot of help, advise
and encouragement from Sue Putt who is a very skilled seamstress and
was able to help me with suggestions and answers to all my questions.
When viewing this quilt, please remember that this is Sandee’s vision
and I only hope I did it the way she would have wanted it.
